About

Web-Developer by day, super hero by night, Ben fights evil nemesis “Alzheimers” to regain the lost fragments of his fragile little mind.

Every once in a while Ben actually manages to reconnect some vital synapses to let the world know about one of his many adventures. Fuelled by his unfathomable lust for all things geeky he roams the wild plains of the internest to claim every last bit of wicked code trickery there is to find.

These code snippets might not always make sense to the untrained eye, and might even be downright ludicrous at times.

Please stick around, to make sure you don’t miss the next episode in this epic tale of madness & mystery.

Work

As a web-developer Ben’s daily tasks involve building websites and ‘internet applications’ in a variety of shapes, sizes and flavors.

These sites and applications are built using (x)HTML, CSS and Javascript for front end development, following best practises and modern web standards governed by the bodies such as the W3C.

For back end development PHP is the preferred scripting language of choice, but Ben is also a keen user of ColdFusion and occasionally ASP - when forced to.

Working with these server side languages usually involves working with a range of data sources such as databases (mySQL, PostgreSQL, Interbase, SQL Server) as well as XML, remote data sources (WebServices) and other file based systems.

In his spare ‘work’ time Ben likes to experiment with all sorts of new technologies to find out how they might aim him in his daily work, or out of pure curiosity - think AJAX, rich Flash apps (Flex etc.) and Ruby.
